Pleasanton, CA, August 12, 2016 - Maddie's Fund®a Pleasanton, CA-based national family foundation, has awarded $62,000 to the newly formed Allie’s Pals Cat Rescue (APCR) of Pleasanton, CA. The grant will be used to support the lifesaving of special needs cats in the Tri-Valley area.

APCR is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue organization founded by Terri Duncan, former cat adoption program coordinator at Maddie’s Fund. "Allie’s Pals shares similar beliefs in collaboration, transparency and that every animal deserves respect and opportunity to enjoy a healthy home or habitat. This grant will allow us to continue Maddie's Fund's tradition of going the extra mile for those cats and kittens in need of additional care and treatment for minor, or in some cases, major, conditions,” Duncan said. "Our goal is to focus our efforts on those cats and kittens who need a little bit of extra support in order to overcome a challenge, some physical and some emotional, in order to be successful in a new home.”

APCR is also interested in encouraging fellow rescue groups to work together, believing that collaboration can be key to saving more lives. "Terri Duncan has established herself as someone who can find good homes for some of the hardest-to-place cats,” said Mary Ippoliti-Smith, Executive Leadership Team, Maddie's Fund. "Her dedication to this important segment and desire to collaborate with other organizations are critical in helping us get to a no-kill nation.”

About Maddie’s Fund

Maddie's Fund® is a family foundation created in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, the Foundation has awarded more than $187.8 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education, and pet adoptions across the U.S. The Duffields named Maddie's Fund after their Miniature Schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and gave them great joy. Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987 – 1997 and continues to inspire them today.

Maddie's Fund is the fulfillment of a promise to an inspirational dog, investing its resources to create a no-kill nation where every dog and cat is guaranteed a healthy home or habitat. #ThanksToMaddie.
